How online lessons work

  • On a video callA regular time each week. I send the link.More

The lessons work the same way as in my studio: songs you love, a real understanding of how music works, and a clear plan for what to practise next. After a lesson I can send short videos of what we covered, so nothing gets lost.

  • What you needYour instrument, a laptop or phone, a quiet room.More

No special equipment. A phone propped on a table works; a laptop with the camera at hand height works better.

  • £80 an hourThe same as my Maidenhead studio.More

Paid per lesson. There are no packs and no discounts: you book the hours you want.

  • Who it suitsAnyone, anywhere, in any time zone.More

Students outside London and Maidenhead, busy adults who’d rather skip the travel, and anyone who wants to keep going while they’re away. I also teach piano, bass, ukulele, music production and composition online.

Prefer to meet in person? At your home in London, or in my Maidenhead studio. More on how I teach.

How it works

From a message to a weekly hour

  1. Send a message

Tell me where you are, what you play and what you’d love to play. I reply within 24 hours, usually quicker.

  2. The first lesson

I send the video link. We start on a song you choose, arranged for your level, in the first hour.

  3. A regular hour

Most students keep a weekly slot. You pay per lesson: no packs, no discounts, no tie-in.

How do online lessons work?

We meet on a video call at a regular time each week. I send the link when you book, and after a lesson I can send short videos of what we covered.

What do I need?

Your instrument, a laptop or phone, and a quiet room.

What does it cost?

£80 an hour, paid per lesson, the same as in my studio. There are no packs and no discounts.

How frequently should we have lessons?

Students have lessons from biweekly, to once a week anywhere to 5 days a week and even daily. Entirely your choice.

Do you teach grades?

I teach how music is built through understanding harmony, intervals, modes, rhythm and the fretboard, in relationship to music the student loves, as I can learn and adapt songs on the spot through years of training this way daily. While I can teach grades, I would rather not, as they are limitative and mostly a waste of time in comparison.

Who are the lessons for?

My students include complete beginners, professional musicians and well-known names who want to improve their craft. Every lesson is 1-to-1 and adapted to your needs and goals.

What if we need to cancel?

I ask for 48 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled with less notice than that are charged.

Book a lesson

Tell me where you are and what you’d like to play, and I’ll suggest times that work in your time zone. I usually reply within 24 hours.

Quicker than the form:

  1. I reply within 24 hours, usually sooner.
  2. We find a day and time that suits.
  3. The first lesson is a normal lesson, at the normal rate. You carry on only if you want to.
